Fortia Minerals focus on the development of mechanized, safe, and modern underground coal mining in Colombia. Operations are concentrated in the departments of Cundinamarca, Boyacá, and Norte de Santander, where the highest quality coal is found.
Of the three departments, Norte de Santander exports the highest percentage of its production with more than two thirds, followed by Cundinamarca and Boyacá, where most of the coal and metallurgical coke production is located. Despite the distance between these departments and the coast, Fortia Minerals has the resources and capabilities to bring high quality coke and coal to the offshore market.
